good luck with the gov't ...I don't speak french either, and from my experience and the experience of friends/spouse in the gov't they would hire a beaver with grade 10 education, who speaks french of course (but very littleenglish) over someone with 2 degrees andyears of experience, and who can actually do thier job.
I worked contract for a short time for gov't. I have 2 degrees, my boss had high school, guess what language he spoke. My friends boss at HRDC failed his english test 4 times...and they gave him a promotion, and he then promoted his boyfriend so he could sit near him...that kind of crap wouldn't last 2 seconds in private sector you can't even get in the door without being 'bilingual' ...go figure. Trust me, you are better off not looking in the gov't...the pay is better but there is so much politics, back stabbing, and then the french speaking canadians are always kniving against you just because you can't understand thier jokes...
I was ready to move to T.O. to get away from this kind of crap, but I was lucky to land a job at a very english university.
anyway, networking is the best way to get jobs...good luck.
