don't forget they immigrated too.

Everybody is from somewhere else if we go back far enough. We can keep going farther back if you want. Lets start with God, adam and eve, or the big bang. if you dont speak whatever sound the big bang made then you speak gibberish too. My point is still valid. Everybody spoke gibberish at some point. Cut them some slack.

and what kind is that?

ohh, I know I'm the kind that believes in equal treatment. When my ancestors saved the money for my great great grandpa to come into this country LEGALLY, find a dumpy apartment, work 80+ hours a week and save up so that he could bring his wife in LEGALLY to start a family here, one of the FIRST steps was learning to speak the language.

I'm sorry if I find it offensive if certain people don't belive this to be necessary anymore.

I am sure your great grandpa would have appreciated a little help by finding places that understood his "gibberish" while he was still learning a new language. Learning a new language is very difficult and takes lots of time. I see nothing wrong with helping someone out by knowing their native language, whatever it may be.

It sounds like your issue is with illegal immigration and not Spanish gibberish. Did the sign say we speak spanish if you are an illegal??? just because you dont know english yet does not make you an illegal

First I never said that not knowing english makes you illegal, and I fully recognize that it takes time to learn a new language, but when statistics show that the hispanic population (the one primarily speaking spanish) is growing by leaps and bounds yearly, and that a MAJOR factor in this growth is illegal immigration, catoring to this population only aggrivates the situation. The easier it is for people (of any background) to move here, the more they will.

Although different issues, the two are fundamentally linked, and I for one do not want to promote a transition from the United States of America into the {insert Spanish terms equivalent to United States of Mexico}

Only Spain settled North America? What history book did you learn from?

Native Americans were here first. Any language other than what they spoke would be considered "gibberish" The Spanish came here speaking their "gibberish." The pilgrims came later speaking some different "gibberish". Then your ancestors came speaking some other form of "gibberish."

Ahh, now I see. You first defined "gibberish" as just Spanish but what you really meant is that ANY foreign language is, to the unlearned at least, "gibberish."

Corner of Beach and Western Center Blvd, just a couple blocks N of 820. It's on the edge of Western Center on the SE corner of the intersection, visible Eastbound. If you're going down Western Center Eastbound and hit the AutoZone you've gone too far.

I have no idea what the hell anyone is talking about now. I believe that you shouldnt get pissed because some business is there to serve a particular population. They seem to serve mainly the spanish speaking community, but want to let you know that they speak english too, and can serve the needs of the english speaking community. I see no point in getting pissed about that. I could care less if somebody opened an insurance company that served the needs of people who spoke some other language. There is a need to be met and they are getting the job done. Why are people taking this as a sign that spanish speakers are trying to take over the US.

This post originally refered to Spanish as gibberish, and I was just trying to point out that whatever language you currently speak could at some point be seen as "gibberish."

Amen to that!

If you lived around here you'd just be happy that someone is trying to get the Mexicans, most likely illegals if they don't speak English, to get some sort of damned insurance at all.

I agree, at some point all languages can be seen as gibberish from some point of view, and from my point of view as an English speaking American, Spanish is gibberish, but so are German, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Lithuanian, Latvian, Galic, Japanese, Chinese, Koreanese (sp?)(sorry,had to do it), Russian, etc.... and I'd be offended if I saw a ton of signs all over in these languages too...

Ha! My church is a few minutes from there, and I am going tonight. I will try to stop by and take a picture before I head off to MO.
