I'm sorry. I sure hope you feel better. Your Mom will come around as will your sister. The most important thing is that you are OK.

But what did i do to deserve this?
I'm a big believer in Karma, so....
In some cases bad events in ones life are not a result of "doing something wrong".
Sometimes you have to take a step back, assess your life and see what you can do to make changes to improve your life.
Example:
A fellow CEGer was having all kinds of bad luck - friendships, financially, SVT, etc.
Based on everything I knew, I told him if I were in his shoes:
1. don't focus energies the car
2. focus on maintaining/improving/developing relationships with family and friends
3. stop spending money on your car
4. get a beater or sell the SVT
5. be more frugal with money
6. get out of debt
Now he's out of debt, working out regularly, lost weight, feels good, happy, saving money for a place of his own, etc. etc. etc.
Was he doing anything "wrong"? Not in my opinion. He just needed to step back, take a look at his life and re-establish his priorities.
Sorry for the "preaching".
Based on my beliefs, sometimes we lose site of our priorities, whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not, whether we want to admit it or not.
I'm sorry about what happened Doug. Instead of focusing on the bad, focus on the good - no one was seriously injured.
If I were in your shoes, I would do what I previously posted. I hope things turn around for you.
Edit: I'd be more than happy to discuss my "philisophy" with anyone publicly or via PM.

Doug - Very sorry to hear about your (further) problems . I'm glad to hear you came out of it relatively unscathed , albeit with a few bumps & bruises . It could've been MUCH worse . It's a shame that your '98 had to pay the ultimate price , but it did it's job ... it saved yours . It may sound hollow ,but cars are replaceable , people are not .
Get better & keep us updated on your injuries (and get that neck looked at) .

95% My chest still hurts, and my finger still hurts if i push down on it. My neck is a tad bit sore if i move it really fast to the right. Other then that I am fine. I may call you later. I want to figure out what I am to do when I go to court. I really don't want to be a dick and fight it since I was obviously in the wrong but I want to see if I can get out of this without points. I don't have enough money to 1. Buy enough lube to make what the insurance company is going to do pleasant. 2. Pay higher insurance. so

Good luck Doug, every now and then the court can be forgiving depending on the judge, cop, and mood(s) they are in. I've known people who have gone to court to plead their case (that they didn't want the points) and the judge kept the charge but dropped the points, so maybe there is a chance On the other hand, just be glad it didn't happen in Lebanon co., because then there would be no chance in he11!
