If you do the drain and fill, then take it for a short drive, and the repeat, then another short drive and repeat again, you will approach a 100% fuid change.
Do this process at least every 30,000 miles.
I just did this to my SE about a month ago, it had been two years and 26K miles since the ast time. I poured off the fluild into clear 2L soda bottles. The used fluid from the first two (4 quart flushes) looked very dark, the third batch I drained looked much better. Think I'll do this more frequently in the future, inexpensive and easy.
