The oddest legal U.S. Currency I ever received in change was a $1 Silver Certificate from 1957.

I didn't even realize I had it until I tried to spend it in another store and the manager checked it out... at that point, I realized what it was and substituted another $1 bill for payment.

I have it in my Shakespeare book to press it.
