Guy is apparently not the happiest after being told he must pay for installation. He decides to have some fun and pay in $2 bills KNOWING that the person taking his money will give some sort of unorthodox reaction. The cashier and management see smearing ink on the bills and can't be sure of the bills validity. They have every right to make sure they are getting their money. I don't believe its the best way to go about things, but the guy asked for this when he decided to get funny with Best Buy. Anything you purposely do to heighten the level of suspicion is at you own risk when it comes to money.

WRONG. The guy did NOTHING wrong, and CERTAINLY did nothing to warrant such treatment. So he was being a smart azz, so what? I just contradicted your opinion, doesn't give you the right to smack me in the mouth & get away with it because you think I "asked for it".
BEST BUY DOSEN'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!.....and guess what, Best Buy didn't give a sh*t about what that guy was thinking when he got taken by the police.
THEY ARE A BUSINESS AND HAVE THE RIGHT TO QUESTION ANY TENDER THEY FEEL COULD BE FAKE.
Lets see how all of this could have been avoided. The guy could have been a little less of an [censored]. He purposely paid the cashier in $2s knowing it would make her less than excited. He brought this on himself, AND YOU KNOW WHAT???? I bet he never goes out of his way to make it even a tiny bit more difficult for a Best Buy cashier to do her job...
No matter what you think, the store had every right to validate the bills. They did and stayed perfectly within the realm of the law. I'm not saying the police handled it all that wonderfully, but Best Buy DID NOTHING WRONG...
I just contradicted your opinion.....good afternoon

I would have sued THE HELL out of both of them or had settled on a big amount.
...and you would have lost TWICE ...and been short the legal fees. Both Best Buy and the police stayed perfectly within the realm of the law. Best Buy has the right to question every possible fake, and the police had abundant probably cause to hold the man.
Guess what sue-happy America, the day of liberal bullsh*t judgments is comming to an end

Dont buy car audio from best buy!
The two dollar bill payment sounds like something i would do, only I would have been way more pissed off than he was.

No kidding. If they said the install would be free, and then later called me and told me they were going to call the police if I didn't pay, I'd welcome the police when they showed up at my door.
I don't understand why he just gave up when they backed off their offer to do it for free. There might be a piece of this story going untold.

Really? And even if best buy had their panties in a wad, how come the police didn't realize this guy was a long-standing business owner in the community? What happened to address checks, checking police records, etc? I mean geezuz, who the [censored] counterfits $2 bills anyway? Was it worth arresting a man over a lousy $114 when he has his own business in town and probably generates a significant portion of revenue? It isn't like they couldn't arrest him later if they checked again and the bills turned out to be bad?
Now if they were 57 $20 bills that would be different...

"This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". What part of this do you not understand? It says so right on the bill if you think I am lying. This is getting to the point where our law system is emulating old fashioned Eastern European systems. Innocent until proven guilty? Yeah, right. What a crock. If somebody has any suspicion of you, you can be dragged kicking and screaming away from your family for the "security" of our nation. It doesn't matter that you did nothing wrong.
But I guess I am a liberal for thinking this? Ok mister know-it-all "conservative". Grab a beer, sit down in your mobile home, watch some NASCAR drivers run around a track killing each other, and have a nice day.
I bet I am as accurate in my accusation as yours... Honestly, Best Buy lied to this man, and then turned around and tried to nail him with some charges because some young, under-paid clerk was lazy and un-trained in spotting counterfeit bills. Seems as if the conservatives could care less how things are done, as long as they are. But, I am stereo-typing just as you are.
Oh yes, and I just screwed up your logic. Have a nice evening.

Funny. I actually always carry around a big load of $2 bills. It is funny to see ppl's expressions and is a good conversations starter. When I cash my check I always ask if they have any two's, and I take all my cash in two's.
I just think it's amusing...so does this guy. Hope I don't end up arrested one day.

Don't buy anything from SVTCuervo or Best Buy and you shouldn't have any problems.

Honestly everyone seems to love them. Half the time they take money out of their own pocket to buy the two's out of their drawer.
