Tom has probably turboed more zetec focus cars then there are turbo contours in existance in the US so he knows his stuff. I agree that the timing issue presented by a mystery maf is not good so I am just going to get another maf housing at the junk yard. As far as oil on the maf wires my intercooler piping is clean and I have been turbo now for 3500 miles so I don't think that is an issue with a good turbo.
Then take turbo Tom's advice and go with it. I'm not forcing you to take my advice. On the other hand, I [censored] guarantee you he isn't cutting the sampling tubes out of his mafs when he tunes, draw thru or blow thru!
