Tom has probably turboed more zetec focus cars then there are turbo contours in existance in the US so he knows his stuff. I agree that the timing issue presented by a mystery maf is not good so I am just going to get another maf housing at the junk yard. As far as oil on the maf wires my intercooler piping is clean and I have been turbo now for 3500 miles so I don't think that is an issue with a good turbo.
Either MAF will work fine WHEN PROPERLY TUNED, just blindly switching MAF's is a very bad idea. Tom is very good at tuning so take his reccomendations AND his tuning and it will run nice.
