No need to cut another hole. Just make a 5 sided box with the drivers firing at each other on opposite sides (like buztagrymes box) and you get the added benefit of making the motion of the driver parallel to the surface they are mounting to which results in lower distortion.
Do you have a picture of what kind of box you are talking about, I don't quite understand how this would look
