This is my first ford car and I have to say that I am pretty happy with it. I come from a family of GM employees, All my relatives, friends and their relatives are working, or have worked for GM. Hell, I was even summer help there for 2 summers. I had an 89 S10 and a 96 GMC Sonoma before I bought my csvt. Both my mom and dad looked kinda dissappointed when I brought home the csvt. I told my dad I had nothing against GM vehicles, I wanted a car that had 4 doors, a stick shift and a little bit of power under the hood. The only GM vehicle that meets that criteria is the Pontiac Vibe GT, which I really like and would have bought if I could have afforded one. I paid 7000 for the csvt, and at the time used vibe GTs on ebay where like 11 to 13 grand.....outta my price range. My mom keeps telling me to get rid of the csvt and get a new Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon. I guess she is just pissed cuz my car is sitting in their driveway with a dead motor. oh well

She is telling you to get a Colorado? I wouldn't drive one of those under-powered, ugly, uncomfortable trucks if I was given one. Go take a look at the Tacoma or Ridgeline. Laugh all you want at that Ridgeline...that water-proof "trunk" with a drain is a great idea, and so is that old wagon-style tail-gate that can swing out or down. The Tacoma looks great, and it has a great engine. Chevrolet failed once again with their trucks. They can't even make a decent fuel pump or tailgate straps in the Silverados. For shame GM.

Interesting post. Makes you think about the eternal mental struggle between dedication to "american" products and the hope that one day big three will catch up to the Asians and Germans.

this is me in a nutshell. 1st car - F150 2nd Bronco 3rd SVT - 4th MR2 5th Mazda 5th volvo
5 out of 6 are FoMoCo - but still, getting the continual shaft starts to hurt after a while. I would still buy a jag over say a bmw most times, but I have more faith that the bmw would outlast the jag. I still have loyalist tendancies - BUT . . .

bwahahahahahahahahahaha. oh god that was funny. admittedly toyota has finally built a truck that can actually be called a truck but it took them what...40 years to do it. the ridgeline is being compared to the fullsize offerings from the big three which is laughable all by itself with its 5000lbs towing capacity and 1100lbs hauling ability. hell, my old ford ranger could do that back in 95 when i had it.
on topic though, i have owned 4 vehicles and three of them were fords, a 95 ranger, a 99 csvt, a 00 csvt and the other one was a chrysler cirrus. i have always been a ford fan and unless something drastic happens i will continue to be even if i do have a problem with the way ford's decision makers stick their heads in the sand sometimes rather than do a job right.
