Just thought I'd bring this up since no one else has. Can't help but think that if Frist was a Democrat, he'd be under indictment as we speak.

LAUER: But when you stood on the floor and you said, 'She does respond,' are you at all worried that you led some senators...

FRIST: I never said, 'She responded...'

Frist on Senate Floor, 3/17/05: ...Based on the footage provided to me, which was part of the facts of the case, she does respond.

More from Frist, 3/17/05: She certainly seems to respond to visual stimuli...

Looking forward to lots of comments about Michael Moore and other unrelated left wing "liars."

And you're drawing an equivalence to this with...????

This 'lying' isn't an indictable offense, if you're trying to compare it to the indictment of a prominent Democrat a few years ago. I'm not a huge fan of Sen. Frist, but I will file this in the 'Nice try' folder.

Davo: Viss1 quoted Senator Frist, and said Frist lied. In your reply you don't clearly deny that Frist lied, but you put the word "lying" in quotes, leading your audience to believe that you think Frist didn't lie. You also say "nice try," which sarcastically implies that Viss1 failed to show that Frist lied.

So tell us, Davo, are you saying that Frist didn't lie in this instance? I eagerly await your response.

Senator Bill Frist (R - Tenn.) is a leading Bush supporter and rising star in the Republican party. He is the Senate Majority leader. In the opinion of many, Frist is an extremist ideologue. He is also accused of making numerous false statements in support of right-wing causes, and is presently under investigation for improper investment of campaign funds.

In the Schiavo matter, Frist is accused of falsely stating that, in his medical opinion, Ms. Schiavo could respond to stimuli, implying that it would be improper to disconnect life support. This was extremely controversial Washington Post covers the controversy re: Frist's involvement in the Schiavo case. because 1) he used his medical credentials to support an political/ideological argument, 2) he directly contradicted Schiavo's own doctors, although he had never examined Schiavo, and 3) he was proven to be factually wrong Frist was wrong about Schiavo's condition. (Schiavo apparently never had the capacity to respond to stimuli).

Frist would be an idiot to try to convince people that he said or didn't say something that is he is officially on record as saying. Because of that, I believe he wasn't really denying saying something; rather, I think he got some of his past words mixed up. I also think there's a little bit of stretching going on here. 'Based on footage...she responded' and 'seems to respond' seem like quite the step to 'she responds'. I could understand if Frist didn't believe he ever said 'she responded'. I guess it all depends on what the definition of 'is' is.

'Nice try' was directed at the lame attempt to pin this 'great lie' on a Republican as some sort of equivalence to the great lies that Democrats have been caught in in the past. Ever since Clinton was caught lying, the left has been trying to catch Republicans in lies (see Bush 'lying' about intelligence), but they have failed in every attempt, including this one.

That's hilarious, because there were millions on the left who have zero medical credentials (including plenty in Congress) who claimed to know everything about her that they needed to know. At least Frist wasn't pretending to be a doctor.

What's to say Schiavo's doctors weren't using their medical credentials to support a political/ideological argument? Oh that's right, they weren't, because they agreed with you.

If the grand poobah of the party does it, why not everyone else? In this case I'm referring to Bush denying that he said Bin Laden was no longer an important target (I assume you watched the debates and saw him do it, so I won't provide a link).

Wow, that is some serious apologizing going on there! Are you saying Frist's statements were "nuanced?"

The guy watched the video, and from that video he made the judgement that "she responded." I guess you can forgive us for thinking that means he thought she responded
