I'm looking for a birthday gift and I was wondering what you guys thought the best Military Aircraft game around is. It also needs to be a computer game. Something modern, no WWII games.

Thanks for your guys' help.

for military Flight Sim games i like the stuff from Jane's combate stuff, like USAF and F/A-18.

For commercial the best is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, hands down. You can actually add aircraft to FS2004.

The best simulator, hands down, is Microsoft Flight SIm 200X (newest... 2004 PRO is the newest still, IIRC)

AFA war planes: there are a lot of good ones out there.. when you say "best", though, do you mean most realistic (though possibly less "instant fun"), or most "shoot 'em up" style, though less physics involved?

Red Baron is a nice shooter that takes little in to account as far as physics go, has a nice storyline (though linear) and keeps you rather entertained through the use of "stunt" tactics you can perform to gain experience point, while fighting. Though slightly dated, now, it still has good fun to be had from it, and can be found for $10-15, I would beleive.

REALISTIC one:I would, again, default to Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator (there are multiple "eras") such as European Skies, and World War II, etc. Plane handling, and mechanics are top notch. Combine this game with a QUALITY flight stick and you've got a REALLY interesting test of skill. (same goes for MSFS2K4) High-Res gameplay, and not too much of the "video" intros that keep you dragged down waiting to play. Amateur mode give the ability to remove the need for engine trim (oil/fuel) adjustment, prop speed/pitch manipulation, and other "little things" that would normally be required to ACTUALLY fly a plane of that type.

Yep I was thinking Microsoft Sim 2004. But I know Janes hasn't come out with a game since 2000... any recent games that are good?

Realistic, maybe, I'll have to look. I want something like Janes had. or like Flanker 2.0 I'm not looking for and WWII type games. Just modern Aircraft. Thanks for any help.

Any oldie but a goodie, though I don't know if it would be POSSIBLE to find.

Chuck Yeager's Air Combat.

Had vintage, all the way up to modern jets.

Anyone have any information on the Falcon 4.0 series?

Apparently a game Falcon 4.0 allied force comes out soon.

I was looking at that one too. I am pretty much trying to compare Lock-On and Falcon 4.0. If anyone could give feedback about these two games that'd be awesome.

Thanks,

Steve
