OK, 2000 SVT, my AC smells like old socks and I never see any condensation hit the ground. So, I figure the evaporator drain is plugged.
I jacked it up Tuesday and looked for the traditional snorkel with lips, no dice.
I located a couple of hoses going into the firewall dead center and low, just above the cat. I figured these were teh heater hoses. Beneath them was the end of a 3/4" round tube. Could not get a mirror positioned to see in the end. Ran a piece of wire in 4-6" but could not feel anything. Is this the evaporator drain or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Anyone had success cleaning a plugged drain?
Thanks!

Could it be the cabin air filter?... pull it out and see what it looks like...

Mine is just a round hole. It is directly above the front of the main cat.

Not sure about the drain, but like amarv12 said, first step should be to check the cabin air filter if you haven't already.

OK, I will check the air filter, but how will that help water run out the bottom! Seriously, I figured that the filter is only in play when you are taking in fresh air. I have odor in the max or fresh position, and combined with the lack of condsensation coming out figure I have something growing in the evaporator case. So, based on replys it looks like the tube is the drain. To restate the question, anybody had any success cleaning it? Hey Moderator, I don't mind my post being moved when appropriate, but how do you figure a question on the location of the evaporator drian belongs in Duratech Maintenace? It has absolutely nothing to do with (A) Maintenance, and (B) what engine the car has. It is a question about the BODY. How GENERAL can you get?

You were attempting maintenance on the car (the A/C specifically)..
You: KNEW the problem (or, at least, weren't asking about the problem) Knew the part name Knew the intended fix Weren't modding anything at all. No performance gain was intended, questioned, or theorized.
This was not a GENERAL post at all.. It was oozing of maintenance, and I would've moved the post to here, as well.

HMMMM - OK, I get it. The general forum is for when you have no clue what the problem is, what the part is called, no idea how to fix it, and/or are not looking to enhance performance. Thanks for the information, I am on the path to enlightenment.
Seriously, I suppose it became a maintenance question when I asked "Anyone had success cleaning a plugged drain?" But I think General - troubleshooting would be better because Duratech Maintenance is under the Modifications section, and as you say, I wasn't modding anything at all.
BTW, the cabin air filter was dirty, but not the apparent source of odor. FYI Autozone carries a Bosch Cabin Air filter # P3610 for around $12.
And Ray, your instructions for changing the filter in the FAQ were most helpful. Thanks!
