ok so my car is starting to do that moosing thing so im gonna make that cap thing. Also while looking around the how to and FAQs there are 2 ways listed to clean the intake manifolds, one is to take it apart, the other is to just cycle injector cleaner into one of the vacum hoses.
I know a lot of people who have done the tear apart and clean have posted about it, but has anyone done the other? I dont have time to tear it apart right now, and was wondering if anyone had used this method and noticed a difference?
I am going to run injector cleaner through the gas tank but wondering if I should go ahead and do the cleaner into the intakes as well.

he's gonna apply the copper cap in "the hose" (sorry don't remember which) to fix his moosing problem.
as for running injector through your manifolds, it's probably better than nothing. here's the thing, if it's never been done before, it wont really help much. there are people who've said a wire brush wasn't enough to clear away the carbon, and had to use items such as screwdrivers to scrap it away, so rinsing over them with cleaners wont penetrate enough to clear it all away. IMHO, I'd not waste the money, and just wait til you have time to actually clean them out. I've got 2 cans of Valvoline Synpower waiting to tear into them once I get ahold of some gaskets and a spare saturday.

under the faq there is an issue thats refered to by ford as moosing, where your engine makes a wierd hum sound and its usually with the air on. The solution is the same as the throttle hang solution where you take a copper end cap (like those used in plumbing for water and gas) and drill a whole into the center and insert it into one of the houses attached to the manifolds (you can read about it more on the faq page)

alrighy Ill just wait a few more weeks and try and find some gaskets to actually do the full tear down, thanks for the input. Where are you getting your gaskets? is it something you need to get online or will any parts store have it?

well the dealership will HOSE you, I'm sure advanced auto carries them. otherwise I'd search in the duratech maintenence forum for "where buy gasket" using the AND function, maybe throw in UIM or LIM as well.

2 cans won't be enough
but I agree, unless you do it every oil change there is no point in wasting the cleaner. It took me 6 cans of B-12 to get everything (that I can see!!!) in shape, and trust me, what I found on my '98 MTX wasn't 1/2 as bad as what my '96 ATX used to accumulate.
if you dump the cleaner in (as in clean LIM w/o taking it off etc...) change the oil too.
FYI: the copper cup goes into IAC hose. aka TH Fix

ok i was looking at the FAQ, and the only thing on there is the UIM/LIM system rebuild not the cleaning. is there any other recommended fixes/cleans while i am in there? it will probably be a few weeks till i can do it.

if you are following the rebuild aid, then you will be in there and already will have replaced the IAC and EGR gaskets.
Also look in to getting a new PCV valve (its under the UIM, and INCREDIBLY cheap; like... $5??) You'll have the TB off already, so look in to optimizing it, or having it optimized, if you want to.
