My fuel pump is going out I think. The car was bucking around 4K RPMs very badly. Before I point to the IMRC, the fuel gauge is about to the 1/4 full mark. The IMRC was functioning perfectly yesterday. I called my mechanic and he gave me a price of $590. Does that sound reasonable at all to you guys? If it is...it's time to rip out that back seat.

No, that doesn't sound reasonable. You can get a new fuel pump for probably ~$90.00(estimate) from Bill Jenkins. Depending on how you want to install it, it can be done in a couple of hours at most. I watched Stazi tear into mine from under the backseat. Took him probably 30-45 minutes, total time.

Yeah from my understanding there is like clips or whateva that hold the seat in and you can pop it out. And go in from there, I had to have my fuel pump replaced by a shop and I only paided $210. I think that is the lowest cost on something done ot this tour as of lately by a shop.

Depending on what part of town you are in, I can recommend an EXCELLENT shop for ANYTHING you need done. (this would be IF you don't feel like doing it yourself, which I would always attempt to do, at least..)
M.E. Gene's 48th 1/2, and Airport BLVD Jason Candelas (its in the sticky in SE, for reputable dealers) (family owned, by part of MY family, actually..)
otherwise, tear in to it yourself.. it ain't no biggie, as I've read, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it to my own car if the need arose (knock on wood) If you want some help, etc, let me know, and we can do something (I leave out of town on Sunday afternoon, though, so before that or after next Friday)

I'm going to let it be for now. I re-filled it (Took 11 gallons so it was low) and am probably going to order the part next month. Is it the filter in the fuel pump that begins to get clogged? Since I bought this used, I don't know about maintenance. I am going to get the fuel filter changed out next week as preventative maintenance. It can't hurt...

The front of the rear seat is clipped inplace. You pull up on the corners to see them and pry them out. Careful you don't break them. Once the seat is out you'll see the plasctic fuel pump cover.
The rest you can see here.
FAQ from CEG returnless fuel pump replacement
autozone how to fuel pump
BTW I paid $300cdn for a stock fuel pump and put it in myself. That was 2 years ago.
Pumps from other sources were more expensive than the dealer one I got for my car.

Get a $40 pressure gauge and check it first. Alot cheaper than the pump replacement and easier.
