'98.5 e1 csvt, 60k miles. a/c only blows cold air out the passenger side window vent, semi cold air out the middle passenger vent, and hot air out the drivers vents... i was going to get my a/c recharged until i found this out, because when the a/c is on, it sure as hell doesn't get as cold as it should, though it is colder in the car than is outside (but not by much)
anyone ever heard of this problem? any way to check it without taking it to a mechanic and getting me charged up the ass just for checking the system?

Sounds like the blender door could either be stuck, or broken.
Search in to that. Also, check to make sure napkins(etc) didn't get sucked/blocked in to the intake where the glove compartment is.

what's the blender door 'n where's it located? i'll check into the intake as soon as possible. thanks for the replies so far

even thought he passenger side blows cold, the car still doesn't get as cold as it should.. think i should just get an a/c recharge? it hasn't been recharged yet, and it's a 98.5 with 60k

I have the SAME problem. I measured the temperature out of each vent, warm on the drivers side, cooler as you move right. I have the Ford repair manual, and will post what I find in the next few days! At least some cooling is happening...

I found the left and right vents differ about 3 degrees, and the center vent is cooler, even with the engine cold, no heater core effect. All the air comes out of one large hole and is divided by ductwork, there is no device in the HVAC box to unbalance airflow temperatures. The thumbwheels allow reduction of air flow to a vent. I reduced the middle flow slightly, to get more air out of the side vents. I checked my family's other Mystique, after recharging the a/c, it does the same things. Yes, we have two  .

ok so how cold does urs get? mine doesn't really get cold, although it is colder than outside (on a really hot day).. does this mean i should just recharge it?

Mine gets to 41 degrees vent output if 80 outside, in shade, max a/c max fan, I use a digital meat thermometer in the center vent, all vents open. I just recharged it, crossing my fingers the leak is fixed!
