This is pretty bad. As far as I can tell from the write up is the inner liners of the gas tanks are degrading at around 30Kmiles. My friend just had his focus in for a stuttering problem under accelaration, he has 25K on his. This is a big issue and Ford is going to bite the big one on this. That is a lot of cars to be replacing gas tanks and fuel pumps on...I wonder how much it has effected the engine too!

This is getting pretty sad.
i hope it doesn't affect the engine at all.

Good old, "lets get the cars out there, and make sure it's cheap to make". "Let the dealers worry about problems." "They can get truck or SUV if they don't like it." shocked

Jac the knife's guys were in such a hurry to get the Focus on the market, they overlooked too many things.

That is just rediculous. I mean would not you test any new material used in a gas tank for stability in the setting of petroleum??? So a little bit of dissolved plastic gets injected into your engine every day. I will say its a big deal

Sure, and Ford should have tested the fuel flapper valve on the Contour too. Somebody should lose their job over either of those problems, but the sad thing with Ford is that you pretty much have to steal from the company or have sex in the office to get fired. (Those were the only two things I ever heard that got a regular Ford employee fired when I worked there.)
