Yeah, well, you can thank Clinton for getting this ball rolling. It was the downsizing (or you can call it "outsourcing") of the 1990s that put so many of those experienced military types out of the service, and screwed up the DOD budget so hard. Because DOD had to cut so many personnel, companies that were able to invest in hiring pre-trained specialists in military logistics and infrastructure management found themselves in perfect position to pick up the slack. I'd love to see the ratio of armed escorts/bodyguards to management contractors...I bet the primary gun-toters are a relatively small fraction of the "civilian" contractor total there.
