Yeah I was referring to the big (empty and seemingly worthless) black box from which the piping goes to the maf and then to the airbox.

I was guessing that removing it was a good thing, no?

Keep the airbox and keep the plenum above the throttle body, ditch everything else and replace it with proper size, straight tubing.

That sounds good. SleeperZ, now If I want a single exhaust on my zetec what size piping would be best for optimal performance gain and what muffler?

Thanks

Two qestions if you don't mind.

What all are you referring to when you say ditch everything else? Are you referring to the piping that sticks down in the fender or something like that?

And just out of curiousity, why keep the plenum thingy? I'm sure there's a good reason, I'm just curious what it is.

2.25" exhaust pipe is optimal for basic bolt-ons.
If you are truely planning on getting a header,
go with 2.5".

Things to ditch;
The flat, black silencer that sticks out towards the front of the car.
The black accordian tubing.
All the stuff in the fender.
And the triangulaur rubber piece that connects the airbox to the fender (replace it with a piece of 3" pipe).

Keep the airbox and the plenum above the TB.
The plenum is their for an air reserve.
It benefits throttle response and helps to keep idle smooth.

Would it be possible to post a picture of what you just described. I wanna see exactly if those parts were removed when I got my exhaust done. I'm not sure. So I wanna check. I don't know much about these parts.

I don't see the point in going 2.5" with the addition of the header...thats big for a zetec with or without a header.
