My GF and I will be going up to the bay area from July 2nd-7th. We will be staying in Antioch, but plan to go into SF for a day or two and go through Sonoma and visit some of the wineries as well.

Are there any places in particular that you NorCal guys would recommend checking out? I've been to SF many times and lived there briefly, so I know the typical Pier 39, ghirardelli square, fisherman's wharf, etc... Looking more for unique and interesting places that aren't as "tourist-y". Also, suggestions on specific wineries would be very helpful too.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

There is a very good winery in Sanoma called Arrowood, if you like good wine you should check it out. http://www.arrowoodvineyards.com/

Take the silverado trail into wine country if you're going all the way to Napa. It's the road less traveled and there are some really excellent wineries to be tasted.

In sonoma I would highly recommend Gundlach Bundschu
http://www.gunbun.com/ , great cabernets. It's not far off Sonoma square and there is Ravenswood Winery nearby known for it's Zinfandels.

Stinson Beach, Point Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods, Mt Tamalpais State Park, Samuel P Taylor State Park all excellent Marin attractions.

Have fun!

Just got back from my trip and it was great!

Had a few minor issues... I ended up having to replace my alternator on the day I was supposed to drive home. Unfortunately, with my tools 600 miles away I had to pay someone else to do the work ($400 ), but I had a great time overall.

Went and saw the Warped tour in the city, did the wine tour thing all through Napa and Sonoma, stayed in Solvang on the way home, and generally relaxed.

Sounds like a great trip. My alternator is on its way out, too. Hopefully I can get it done for arounf $400.00. Some other guys on here were saying they paid in upwards of $700.00, yikes!

Glad you had a good time.
