Ok so I read a thred stating that your could test the connection to the IMRC connection to make sure it is getting a signal. I have tried 3 different IMRC's and none work. There must be something else wrong with it. Please help me out I am running out of ideas. Thanks

Dido !

Mine now works on and off when it feels like it. It seems to stop working after long trips(1 hour+). I relocated it to behind the battery tray and that seemed to help a little in reliablity. I also think that when I tightened the pins on the connector that helped too.

Let me/us know if you find a fix!

I have a question(for everyone): was the 1995 IMRCs reliable with the vacume secondaries?

Test for power at the source from the PCM Power Relay (K163)
(Green/White wire) (check for voltage difference between here and a known ground... should be voltage present...)

Test for a ground at the Ground distribution wire
(Black/White wire) (check resistance from here to a known ground) (should be VERY little[1-10 OHMS] to NO resistance.. )

Test for an "open" signal(when above opening RPM's) at either the black/blue wire, or the brown/white (not sure, off hand, which it is.)

Ray, is this in the box under the hood? Also the relay layout looks nothing like that diagram. Is there any way to tell or illustrate which relay it is?? I am not keen on these cars but want to try and fix this. Thanks

the first diagram is the schematic for the wiring connector that goes to the actual IMRC itself.

the bottom one is the BJB (battery junction box) under hood, driver's side, behind battery, snap off cover with a metal locking tab.

here is another look:

F11, for instance, is the 03Amp light pink fuse inside your BJB....

Thanks for your help. Do these relays go bad ever? This problem started immediatly after I changed my alternator. Is this a coincidence or maybe something blew? What color is the k163 relay anyways? I looked in my bjb and it just confuses the hell outta me. I aprecciate all your help. Thanks again

They are very reliable as long as you don't have a vacuum leak. The only problem that I had with mine (I have two 95 Contours) is the vacuum dashpot on one cracked and had to be replaced....

Ray, are those illustrations for a 98 SVT? I just can't find the relay in the box next to the battery. The diagram looks nothing like what mine does. Thanks
