I am thinking about what kind of car I would like to buy myself when I finish grad school in two years. I want my next car to be brand new or a year old.

I am thinking of a fast car that seats four anywhere from somewhat cramped in the back to very comfortably. I really only care about myself and the passenger. My friends can deal with the backseat (I don't even fit in the backseat of my SVT). My next car must also be rear wheel drive or AWD.

Here is my list so far

1. Infiniti G35C
2. Audi S4
3. Volvo S60R

I would like a new M3, but they are 50K or so MSRP.

I am just curious about what other people would get that would meet these requirements. I never even thought of the S60R until someone here posted about having bought one.

I love Infinitis... but they are pretty expensive.

I think the G35c is actually the cheapest one of the list

There is really no other car I'd drive over that one for that price

I would love a G35 and add a twin turbo kit. I think Greddy makes one for it.

Most likely a GTO, Impulse Blue with Blue Leather, possibly a 2004 CTS-V.

But I'm starting to lean on having a basic car, and getting a collectors sports car like a 930 Turbo Slantnose to enjoy on the weekends.

Out of the three you have listed I would go with the S60R. The S4 is a fantastic car, but they make the Volvo look cheap by comparison in terms of maintainence and repairs. I love the S4, but would have a hard time buying one. Leasing one, well that is a different story.

The interior on the G35 is shyte. I wasn't particularly impessed with the performance either.

300C (SRT-8 even) is a great car for the money, I don't know if buying a stick is mandatory or not though.

The CTS-V as previously mentioned is worth every penny (IMO)

The lincoln LS is nice, although might not have enough "sport" in it for ya, and it is auto only as well.

Did you have a budget in mind?

I see what you are saying. I have been planning on turning my SVT contour into the weekend car. I have already invested too much money to let the car go.

Manual trans is mandatory. This car can't just be fast. It must handle well and be sporty. Think of a faster more luxurious version of the SVT contour. My cousin had a Lincoln LS. It was nice, but not enough "sport." And the manunatic auto shifting sucked a lot.

THe G35 interior felt a little cheap, but was much better than my ford and better than the 350Z.

Price range is max 50k. Preferably closer to 40K.
