Huh???? I never soldered a anything in either car. Just plug and play....

Someone have a price on a resistor pack? I'm looking at a contour with this problem and want to know how much the fix will be if I buy it...

On my sister's Mystique, the Switch was bad, causing high speed only. Could be either.

So there's no way to tell? How hard is it do change the switch and how much is it? also, how much is the resistor block?

IIRC it was like $20 and when I picked mine up from bill J
in vegas, I installed it, in the parking lot in about 5 minutes.
It should be blue(redesigned) old one on mine was whiteish.

Switch is about 10 bucks. You have to remove the radio, compartment below it (if an older 95-97 Contour/Mystique) and the knob and the 2 screws at the bottom by the lighter and ashtray. The 1998 Mystique has a screw on the bottom of the wood trim, simpler mount. It's a job. The resistor might be easier to do.

I purchased the new type resistor pack from Ford for $12. Very easy to install. Just look in the FAQ or common problem section.
