Thanks for your help/

specail kit that they make. It has a cleaner and oil to reoil it. But you can use soapy water if you want. Remember to only use gently running water, REOIL IT, and let it AIR dry completly (i.e. no hair dryer or anything like that).

All ya need to do is go down to your local auto parts store and ask them for a K&N filter cleaning kit. It should be around $15(u.s). It will come with the cleaning solution and the oil. They are both just in spray bottles. The cleaner will turn your filter grey/white because all it is a a cotton filter, and it is pink because of the oil. You just need to put enough oil on it to turn it that pink color...don't over saturate it.

Damn, I think I might have over saturated. I am getting a camera today...man, you guys...i've held off on a couple of storied because I couldn't show you pics. Like the time I hit a hidden tree stump and it destroyed my side skirt, then I repaired it. No camera, so I couldn't show before. But I am getting one today Or like yesterday, but I removed the bloody electrical tape from the air intake to discover the intake K&n tub was crack all athe way around, as well as the rubber air output from the mount on the car had ripped, and was taped too. So I have to fiberglass temp repair everything, clean it up. Hope to have pics for you all later today.

You can't oversaturate it with water, the K&N is not paper. You use the cleaner the K$N filter RECHARGE KIT comes with. Spray it on, hose it til it looks clean, and let it air dry, just like stated. Don't use compressed air to dry it completly (I use it to blow the excess water then let it sit in the sun to dry for about 45 minutes. When that is done, you re-oil it. The K&N FILTER RECHARGE KIT comes with an aerosol of special filter oil. You spray it on like spray aint, basically. The oil is a purple color and you can tell where you have applied it. You have to be carefull... must get oil on the entire filter element, but don't over do it.
Also, DON'T apply it to the inside of the cone of the filter. The filter oil is designed to make 99.9% of almost anything not pass through the tiny fibers in the filter. After spraying the oil on the filter... back to the sun. On the directions for the recharge kit, it says to let it dry for ten minutes.... balogna. That oil takes A LOT longer to fully dry, sucking that oil in will kill your MAF in a heart beat. I clean my filter every 6 months (open air filter requires mroe often maintenance) and have NEVER had problems. Let the oil on the filter dry for 30 minutes or as long as you can go with out the car. The longer the more assurance and you almost eliminate the chance of failure. Good luck, it's not hard at all.

First thing that came up when I put "K & N" in google, then one more click: K & N Air Filter Cleaning kits . Or try this: Cleaning instructions .
Good luck.

You clean your K & N that often? Don't the instructions say to clean it every 50,000 - 100,000 miles, or more often in dirty conditions ? I don't suppose things can ever be too clean...
