You can't oversaturate it with water, the K&N is not paper. You use the cleaner the K$N filter RECHARGE KIT comes with. Spray it on, hose it til it looks clean, and let it air dry, just like stated. Don't use compressed air to dry it completly (I use it to blow the excess water then let it sit in the sun to dry for about 45 minutes. When that is done, you re-oil it. The K&N FILTER RECHARGE KIT comes with an aerosol of special filter oil. You spray it on like spray aint, basically. The oil is a purple color and you can tell where you have applied it. You have to be carefull... must get oil on the entire filter element, but don't over do it.

Also, DON'T apply it to the inside of the cone of the filter. The filter oil is designed to make 99.9% of almost anything not pass through the tiny fibers in the filter. After spraying the oil on the filter... back to the sun. On the directions for the recharge kit, it says to let it dry for ten minutes.... balogna. That oil takes A LOT longer to fully dry, sucking that oil in will kill your MAF in a heart beat. I clean my filter every 6 months (open air filter requires mroe often maintenance) and have NEVER had problems. Let the oil on the filter dry for 30 minutes or as long as you can go with out the car. The longer the more assurance and you almost eliminate the chance of failure. Good luck, it's not hard at all.
