The float is mounted to an elec. curcuit board. Mine cracked in half while putting the canister back together.

When the tank is full the float arm is not read on the board so the system figures its full. As my float lowers the arm will come in contact with the lower half of the board and then the guage comes back down. I tried gluing mine back together in the hopes that the metal strip on the curcuit would touch one another again

but alas...it didn't.

You may be able to take a solder iron to the metal contact on the board and melt them back together but it may just do more damage.
