Most likely you somehow tweeked the fuel sender float and it is stuck in the full up position. Pull the pump back out and have a look.

The float is mounted to an elec. curcuit board. Mine cracked in half while putting the canister back together. When the tank is full the float arm is not read on the board so the system figures its full. As my float lowers the arm will come in contact with the lower half of the board and then the guage comes back down. I tried gluing mine back together in the hopes that the metal strip on the curcuit would touch one another again but alas...it didn't. You may be able to take a solder iron to the metal contact on the board and melt them back together but it may just do more damage.

Well it worked as good as I was hopping. Took out the lower RPM stumble I had. The 1/4 full tank and high RPM stumble is still there. I have had that for 60k miles. I will be looking at replacing the pump in a few months.

Hmm. Good to know. I had no problems with my stock return style pump other than flow volume for the turbo. The Walbro works great but whines really good when the tank gets low on fuel. that's how I know its time to put in gas, I get an audible alarm.

I have a fuel pump (the electric pump inside the basket) and the sock filter for sale- I ordered the kit from BAT, but suffered from the same fuel gauge panel crack mentioned in this thread, and ended up buying the whole pump again, since the basket isnt sold separately.
So now I have a new fuel pump and sock for sale- I'll sell it for $55 shipped- personal check or paypal. Send me a note.

There is still something that is unclear to me. I have been thinking of getting the Focus SVT pump. I pulled the sock filter and did nothing for running issues. I have one fuel line running out of the pump and one elctric conection. I am assuming this is the Returnless style. Now the question is will the Focus svt pump work for me. those are aobut 150 bucks cheaper then the stock replacements.
