I'll agree with Roger on this. NASCAR uses the base of the windshield as a source of high pressure to force air in to the air cleaner assembly. The only reason I can think of why this would lower the temps on Demon's car, would be due to the fact he isn't travelling @ 200mph ...

So, your point is that for those of us who travel under 200 mph, it is fine to remove the thing and raise or hoods, but for those of us who travel @ or above 200 mph we should leave them?

No.
The point is that "underhood temps" will decrease because there is more fresh air coming in, even at sub 200mph. People are measuring underhood air temp.
My point is that coolant temp may increase, because airflow across the radiator will decrease. In our case, it may simply mean that the fans kick in more often to compensate, just as they do when you're stuck in traffic or idling. There is a tradeoff.
In a true cowl induction setup, airflow from the cowl to the intake is sealed off from the rest of the engine bay.
If you want to evacuate more air from the engine bay, you need vents around the middle of the hood (a la "Cossie style"), which is a low-pressure area.
Function before fashion.

Ok, makes sense now. Thanks for clearing it up. I thought I had it, but then we brought nascar into it and I got all confused.
