Ok guys last week I had a cel. I put a scanner on the car ,and to make a long story short the code: p0174 (which is bank 2 O2 lean) had nothing to do with it. Because of this board and all the people on it I was able to find the problem (k+n oil on maf) and fix it for free. So Im going to try to give back a little.
When the scanner was on the car I saw the intake temp sensor was reading 116. WOW. Now for the free relief- pull the rubber gasket off the cowl. The one that stops water from coming in by the windshield. ( youll be fine w/o it.) Next on top of the grill (oval on the front end) youll see a rubber stip if you have the hood open. Pull it off. I know its not much and some of you probably have done it already but the more fresh air coming in and the more hot air going out the better.
REMEMBER- free.

PS: stock S4s dont have anything on SVTs
I know first hand

That's fine, except that now you've compromised the flow of air through the radiator, which will make your engine run hotter.

Someone told me that removing the black plastic that is on the engine (the thing that says DURATEC on it) would help let hot air out. At least get it away from the motor. Just a suggestion.

Believe it.

The cowl seal, and the seal above the radiator, and the "air dam" underneath the radiator are there for a reason--to direct air from in front of the rad, through the rad, and keep it from just going around.

You want high pressure in front, and low pressure behind.

The only thing keeping air from the radiator, are the reflector pieces that are on each end of the lower grill of the SVTs. Also, I don't see taking the gaskets off of the grill and rear of the hood, lowering temps THAT much. 116 you say? I take it your car was on the upswing in temps from just starting it up? Or on the downslide of letting it cool for a while.

removing the plastic that says Duratec will relieve hot air quicker. The main reason for taking it off is to relieve the hot air from that box under it that opens the secondaries.
