Usually the ground (neg) is the darker color wire. You could also use guess and check... its only two wires...

Except that if you hook it up backwords it will still work, so I am not sure how you could do more than just guess...

Technically speaking, if you mix up the wires the speaker will be 180 degrees out of phase, but i have never met anyone who could hear the difference

He is asking about the terminals, not the wires. I have the same Vifa's and mine have a red dot on the base of the terminal that indicates positive.

Nice to meet you. My name is Bob.

Now we've met.

To me it is very obvious if one speaker is 180 degrees out of phase with the opposite side speaker. You just have to know what you are listening to and listening for.

lol, i know some people can tell. I was just stating that to the untrained ear I can't notice a difference...

That being said when I hook up my stereo stuff, I trace wires and make damn sure both speakers have matching phases, or whatever the correct terminology is.

The cheap way to determine proper polarity is to use a 3v or 6volt battery.

When the negative side of the speaker is connected to the negative side of the battery and positive side of speaker to positive side of the battery you should see the speaker pop OUT (forward, in polarity). If it goes in, well you are wired backwards, out of polarity.

Note I stated POLARITY because PHASE in a car is Relative to your Listening Position. In other words you may achieve proper phase at your listening position by using backwards polarity at the speaker terminal.

You have relative and absolute phase.

Absolute out of phase is like the recording was +/- but your complete system is -/+, this is hard to detect.

Relative Phase, a speaker or set of speakers out of phase with another set can be easy to detect.

I use a tone generator and phase detector to set up phase.
A tone generator should be used to in lue of a 3v or 6v for checking polarity also.

You need to be careful when using a battery so that you don't blow the speaker.

Yeah, yeah, yeah,... there goes Anthony giving all kinds of extra information. I could have said a lot of the same stuff, but I didn't want to bore anyone.

'Tsup Anthony!!

Long time, no see.

When are you going to come to another show?
