yeah bring your car as i did my last semester at CUA in DC, then wait until you need a new steering rack, new suspension and two new rims b/c of potholes. oh yeah, not to mention, take off your bumpers b/c here they are used to feel the car behind you when you parallel park. another thing, if you have a clean car forget it, theres homeless people everywhere that will lean against it, wash your windows with dirty p*ss water and sometimes sleep against your car at night. great city for nice cars
metro it, all day pass fopr $6.00 and you can go just about anywhere in the metro DC area, enjoy!

The tricky part about DC driving is just sorting out the one-ways from two-ways and figuring out the roundabouts downtown. Driving AROUND DC (not just on the Beltway, either) isn't that hard, though, and you can cruise the GW Parkway to Mount Vernon, or run out to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space museum and then up Rt. 28 to the Ferrari dealership, and then come back east on Rt. 7 to the Aston Martin dealership & Tyson's Corner. Best bet? Fly in, rent a Mazda 6 from Hertz with a nav system, and use it to get around NoVA and Maryland (daytrip up to Gettysburg, too), but park it and Metro into DC proper.

He is too young to rent from Hertz. You need to be 25, plus the Mazda 6 is crappy.
Yeah the metro is great and they are right about parking in the city. If you can't find a garage then your done.
Now I hate America? That is a new one to me.
