random opinion request...
i'm thinking of switching from the SVT contour to an SVT lightning and a motorcycle; any thoughts at all??
good idea or bad idea?

Not that I have any experience....but think about the financial repercussions. It ain't cheap to fill up the L. I will say though, insurance is about 20 bucks cheaper per month, and acceleration is a tad better.

what are your reasons for doing it?
if you can afford it and you like those vehicles more than your current vehicle, then I say go for it.

there's also the whole dilemma with losing 3/4 passengers in my car...because the lightning is only a 2-3 seater vs the contour's 4-5 seater.
i'm moving away to school next year tho, and since i'm in an urban area i thought it would be really nice to have a bike...but i wouldn't be able to drive it the entire year, since i'm in the midwest (from december until february)

3 people in a Lightning is not that comfortable.
Also if you get snow, even with snow tires the Lightning is still not that fun to drive in the white stuff.
Gas mileage will go way down.
Other then that, they are a blast to drive and can haul a good chunk of crap.

I assume you are saying it would be no different than any other 2wd F-150 using a tire size that a 2wd F150 woudl typically have? If you used the stock wheels with snow tires, it would certainly be worse than a standard F150 with it's skinnier tires. If you mean going aftermarket for wheels and buying thinner wheels/tires, I would be curious what the min wheel diameter would be.

What? I'm talking snow tires on a Lightning. Lots of guys have done it, and all rave about how good the truck does. Personally, I drove with my F1s in the snow (since we didn't get much last year) and they suck complete ass. Originally posted by Newmadamus:

With aftermarket rims and snow tires, the opinions I've heard range from it's good to it's like a normal 2wd truck to it's only a little less scary then stock F1's.
Everyones got a different opinion. I chose not chance it seeing as how my town is *amazing* at slow plowing.

A tad ??? You have one and I've only rode in one but the seat of the pants dyno disagrees, or was that sarcaasm?
There is always the 4 door Harley Davidson edition trucks, alot of them had the charger, & IMO they looked better  .
