Alright, before all you search nazis jump on me, this is not the usual question, so please read my question.

I am in the market for a Mustang Bullitt Fuel Door. Even on ebay, as everyone here knows, they are about $100 shipped on average. So, when I was searching on ebay, I read that the Bullitt Fuel door will also fit on a 1997-2003 Ford F150. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, that would mean that the diameters are the same, and therefore, an aluminum fuel door made for the F150 would fit the Contour, right?

The reason I ask is because you can buy an aluminum fuel door identical to the Bullitt fuel door through your local Autozone for a third of the cost.

Usually those "bullit" doors that are sold at autozone don't mount as precisely and flush as FORD OEM bullit doors. Many have used them and don't like their "uneven" fitment. My bullit gas door is from a mustang... if you want to do it right, spend the money to make it look right. From what I have read, the f-150, mustang, and contour should be identical.

I used one out of a F-150. It isn't as flush as the mustang one and at the very top it sticks out a little more than the rest. But none of this can be noticed unless you are looking for it. BTW, I got mine for $25

Which method did you use? Did you use Bill's old method, or did you follow Hightower's? I have been having problems with Chris's site lately, and I wanted to read up on it before I just jumped in.

The problem which causes it to not sit flushly, is that something that can be remdied<sp>??? If so, that's the way to go!!! Did you guys say Autozone? And is it something they stock? Or is it a special order item?

The Autozone by my house has about 12 of them sitting on a shelf. Any store should have at least a few in stock.

My real Bullit door fits great
