Should I wax the black portion of the rear bumper on an SVT or avoid it? I know wax and black don't always get along. My car's green, so the black part isn't shiny like the black cars. Comments?

I waxed mine with no ill effects...its just paint.

I avoided doing mine this past weekend, but I'm interested in the responses. I have a red SVT.

I use a bumper and trim product called back to black and its for that type of applucation. Its not a wax its kinda like a dressing for the plastic.

Your guys must be different. I have a black SVT and its painted black just like the bumper. No difference in appearance or feel.

On some of the SVT's the lower portion between the pipes is a flat black instead of the glossy color. I have a unique one, when my bumper was replaced after I got run into, the body shop didn't know that it was supposed to be black, so now my green bumper is green all over  ------------------ Deron '99 Tropic Green SVT #924/2760

Black SVT's do not have the flat black unpainted plastic piece. Theres is painted to match the rest of the car, Silver, Green, and Red are flat black unpainted plastic.
I use a vinyl/plastic cleaner/shiner and wipe it down.

I just waxed mine over the weekend and it looks fine. I am pretty sure it is painted plastic and even if it isn't, the wax did add some shine to it. BTW, my car is silver. Check out my pics in the KC forum to see.

Thanks for the comments. Sounds like either wax or a plastic dressing will both work fine.
