96 SE V6 MTX Leather loaded!! Like the title says. I hit a deer and Insurance has totaled it. In Ohio I was forced to transfer to a salvage title to get the pay out. That's the bad news. Good news is that it's looking like I will get $4100 and get to keep the car! It NEEDS a drivers door, windshield, fender, mirror and all the paint for those items. Body shop quoted $2700 for repairs but I can replace the above parts from a salvage yard for $250(Black, same as my tour!!) plus $210 for a windshield. I was first thinking this would be a great time to repaint the whole car and fix it up (SVT body parts) new wheels.... OR fix just what was damaged myself and sell it for $1600-1800 because of the rebuilt title. That would net me close to $5,100 or more if I am thrifty with the paint(maco SP?) Then I could just pick up a real SVT for close to that price. My tour was (is) in excellent condition in and out. only 89,000 miles. I have owned it for 6 years and hate to see it go?? Just for fun I drove my totaled car to Detroit and back the other day(500 miles). Not bad for totaled!! What would you do? Louie

sell it and buy an SVT or something better. Something with a strong aftermarket.

Sorry for your loss and I am glad you are okay but I can't believe they gave you $4100 for it.
Wholesale book on it is about $2500.
Even full dealer prepped retail isn't much over 3k.

Crap man. If you need the money, keep the car. If you don't need the money and can afford to just simply make a profit off it, then make the freakin profit!!

There first offer was $3500 based on GL 2.0 sales???? So I said mine is a V6 SE and she said to send pictures and receipts for maintenance. So she would have a paper trail. Said $4100 should be no problem. Some times if you ask, you will get??

Good pay-out. I just a got a nice chunky one myself. I'm taking the C-SVT route now though. There was no chance of me buying my car back as it was decimated in a head-on with a tractor-trailer at 60mph+ each way.

take that $4100 and repair your tour as a daily driver and then call John Jones for your Ghia . . .

If you can show the insurance company what you believe the car is worth, and prove it to them its possible to get more than the car is 'worth'
my black svt that was totaled was BB at 7000. ended up getting significantly more for it. I showed other auctions for Tours that showed a higher price than 7000. Many of which were from this site!
Back on topic,
I say fix the car yourself and sell it. Buy something nice with the cash

When I hit my deer the other month I am sure that the insurance would have totalled it out...too bad I don't have full coverage. But I fixed it without too many headaches. Took about 20 hours, $500 for parts car(+$120 in gas to go get it and bring it home), and $330 for a windshield. I do need to repaint my hood though...same color but some wierd azz paint like stuff on it and some scratches. Good luck! I would put a 3.0 L in it after you fix it and some svt heads. YOu will get a good amount of power and some $ left over.
