Hopefully I can describe this correctly. I have a 95 SE. On the front and rear bumpers there is a chrome-like trim piece with a thin black ring around it that holds it on. Mine are all chewed up. Both the chrome-like part looks bad and the black trim part that holds it on is cracking. Even if I took it off and cleaned it up it still look bad because the part that holds it on is cracked in several spots.

Now for my ?.

1. Can I get these trim pieces someplace, if so what is the offical name for them.

2. If I took these off completely and painted the car itself where these used to be, what would that look like, and has anyone done this before?

I'd really appreciate the help, thank you.

Here's what you can do. Go to a Ford dealer and have the parts department get you the inserts for a '96 or '97 model, they are body color. They will come pre-painted. Put them on in place of the chrome ones, and your set.

you talking about the chrome bumper strips... That's about all anyone calls it. Removing them wouldn't look good in my opinion, but painting them is what was done at ford (really they are slightly differnet when painted). I like the chrome look, but many don't. The only place to get them would be a Ford dealer, as far as I know.

Looks just lke this right?

95seped: Yes the picture you posted is exactly what I'm talking about.

Let me try to explain what i am seeing again:

I looked at mine and it seems to be 2 pieces.

1st is the actual "chrome" strip.

2nd part is clear plastic with a black rim that the chrome paper fits into. Then the clear part snaps onto the bumper and the black rim holds it in place.

I have 2 problems.

1st the clear part is dirty so the crome looks "rusted", but I can clean that.

2nd the black ring is broken in many places so it doesn't snap on well.

But I will try the ford dealer this weekend and see what they say. Thanks guys!!!!
