Hi Folks,
Got these a while back (they basically say the ECM had to 'overcompensate' (i.e. work outside normal parameters in order to super-enrichen the mixture) in order to compensate for a whole lotta air coming in for the combustion process.
Scoping thru' the CEG archives (yes, we ALL have to do that periodically to prevent 'repeat' questions!) I began to point my finger at the MAF sensor.
So, I disconnected my K+N and cleaned the "venturi" part really, really well. If you look inside you'll see two "bulb filament" type structures -- do not touch them! but just let the cleaning fluid do its work. I also did a nice job of the throttle plate.
Drove up to Lebanon, NH, over the weekend and put about 700 miles on the car. No CEL and super gas mileage! (about 26mpg).
It's always the simple stuff!
Latah,
Gerry
