I have the VRX935 as well, and I just leave it down. The monitor is only for carshows.
I know that if i have an in-dash monitor i know i'd use it so i'd have the joys of the hvac haha.
edit: since it's summer though, who cares, my hvac is aka a window switch, simple to operate and always works.
