Yeah I've seen that crusty crap, IMO any pre 97 car would risk paint problems. If anyone is considering this(pre 97)try and examine the paint around the guards VERY closely to check for defects. A couple other things, the paint seems to be MUCH MORE scratch resistent on earlier contiques. Maybe more clear coat, not sure. Also, The earlier cars use a different type of adhesive than 98+ cars do, because of the different style moldings. Much easier on your fingers than the thin grey stuff on 98+ tours. 96 I know for sure has a thick white foam like typical 3M double sided foam tape, much thicker than the newer type.
