My friends have no problem with theirs at all, torrenting all sorts of files (even multiple torrents at the same time, forwarding the connections via the router) daily. Granted general browsing slows down incredibly but that's expected.
Then again I haven't done the reading up my friends might just be very lucky ...

Because the rental is included in the bill , you cant OWN the modem like you can with Comcast .
