i think its inappropriate and unnecessary. its a car ad. even if was a guy and woman it would be unecessary. it was used in a particular targeted magazine that is for gays and lesbians or adults than i dont have a problem with it but if it was plastered on a billboard sitting next to an elementary school i would not be so permissive; even if it was a heterosexual couple. being in a seductive embrace is not an image that i feel is appropriate for young children. you guys are all ok with it cuz its two chicks. if it was two dudes all hugged up like that you guys would be like "ah hell no!"  what happened to all of our uber-conservatives that are so pro-Bush and all things right wing??

Ford realizes that gays and lesbians is an important part of its marketing segment. Subaru has realized that for years. For major automakers to ignor the GLBT community is foolish. I'm amazed that General Motors, in all its plight, isn't advertising to the GLBT audience.

svt4stv, I don't see anything seductive in the advertisement from the first post. It is one woman holding another in a supportive, but not sexual way.

I havent seen anything from Saturn aimed at the GLBT community that the other sectors havent done. I mean dont get me wrong, while working for Saturn for a few years I definitely ran accross a lot of the GLBT community traffic but I cant quite figure any specific reason that would show they were being targeted. One of the people at our store had a strong presence in the community and it drew alot of people in. Other than that nothing big scale....

They have a large presence at gay events, like a full display at Pride every year that other automakers don't.

One that that amazes me....I work in a large office building in downtown Topeka that where the infamous Rev. Fred Phelps and his clan of anti-gay zealots picket at the street in front every Thursday. I watch them drive up in a later model Ford pickup, and wonder how they can drive a vehicle that comes from a gay-friendly automaker. I've been too much of a chicken to confront them on that issue.
