Although its been 35 years since I graduated, I remember it well. Although all my buddies were having beer parties around town, my parents insisted that I attend a "reception" they were having at the house, and everyone invited were their friends from church and Dad's job. There were people at MY graduation party that I didn't even know. I snuck down into the basement and watched TV, and nobody even missed me.

Note to parents......let your kids have some fun on their graduation from high school or college. As shocking as it is, they DON'T want to spend the memorable evening with you!

My parents did the same thing for my college graduation. My buddies and I bought a keg of beer and had a party planned at the lake. But my parents decided to had to take me out to eat first, and by the time I got to the party, everybody was drunk and passed out and the keg was empty. What a bust! Although I shouldn't sound so harsh on my parents, I wish they would have realized that graduation is for the GRADUATES, not the parents.
