Ok so ford says my squeak is coming from my LCA bushings, and of course they can't be purchased separate from the LCA's. So they want to charge me about $850 to get parts and install. I said "no chance in hell, buh-bye"... They also said outside of the squeak there is no driveability issues or safety issues. Is there any way to stop this squeaking or replace these bushings withoug buying new LCA's? Thanks in advance.

FWIW, the 2 bolt LCAs are only around $55 each from all these online ford parts dealers...thats complete with new ball joint and fresh bushings.

Are the bushings ripped out of the LCA or something?...

Why would ford tell me this sh!t is sooo expensive if I can get it cheap? He said the bushings are just starting to wear down and deteriorate from age, hence the squeaking. I was reading the tubular control arm post, and was interested to know opinions on that as well. Would it be better to just get the two bolt LCA's that you speak of or spring for the tubular CA's? Thanks for your help!

Edit: They also said that this was not something they could not just lube up to fix the squeak.

I am looking for replacement bushings for my horizontal
A-arms as well. Ford wants $140 per side basically. And that is still too much. All for $20 worth of bushings. Sheeeshhhh

My tubular TCA's are for the rr of the car, not the front. As far as I know there are no tubular front control arms although someone "said" they would make them. This seems to be the norm here as talk's cheap. I have looked in to fabricating them from scratch but it is very difficult and the market is somewhat limited. I do have plan B though...

This would entail rebuilding the stock assemblies with polyurethane bushings which can be replaced when necessary. Now I do have to figure out how to fabricate the mounting pins and some kind of "thrust washer/bearing" set up to keep the arms from moving fore/aft when they're loaded.

Options w/b boxing, additional camber, etc. However, I can state that they will cost more than new Ford ones and I will only make them in the 4 bolt mount design.

Any interest?

I am not looking for any specific upgrade, especially if it's going to be that much of a hassle. I am just trying to weigh my options, and it seems I should just order some new LCA's from an online parts vendor. As long as it is not as expensive as ford made it out to be, then I am ok.

Your better off (financially) on buying the whole LCA from someone like BAT. Your other option is to fabricate a poly bushing set-up like we did last winter....major design and machine work involved to the point where it would be 3 times the cost of stock arms....see page 4 of link
