Well, as my luck had it - on our both cars the A/Cs went south within the last 3 days, first on Duratec and then on Zetec (think conspiracy?) Actually what happened was - we just turned our respective A/Cs on for the 1st time this year - and both of them kept blowing hot air though last time we checked (a year ago LOL) they worked fine.
The question is - apart from the obvious causes like leaks - are there any common A/C malfunctioning problems associated with Contiques?
Also, what the average damage I should ready myself for?

beyond leaks it could be a mechanical problem. not using the ac for a for year can have alot to do with it. expect $700+ to have someone do it. if possible replace the parts your self and have pepboys or someone fill er up. that will save quite a bit. this assumes you have bad parts. first check the refrigerant.

I would just check the refrigerent level. Get one of those kits at an autoparts store, and you can add more refrigerant if you are low. That should fix the problem temporarly, however, that also means you probably have a leak somewhere, I don't know how much it would cost to find and fix that, but I would estimate a mild ass rapage if you are doing it on two cars

Just recharge it yourself. Expect to pay $20-$25 for the first car, but only around $10 for the second because you'll already have the gauge/coupler for the recharge.

Take it and have a shop put the fluourescent dye in and recharge it (only cost me $14 here). Then they can find if it has a leak. But why do you need a/c? You live in NJ.

It gets hot here. 'Nuff said. Yes, anything over 80F is hot here, compared to you southerners.

Everytime he chims in on an A/C thread, it's always "you don't need A/C..." LOL, gotta love predictability!

That's because he removed his for weight savings (I think it was busted anyway) and he is used to it..

Did you drive them during the fall/winter any? If you used the defroster that runs the AC compressor. That would be the same as using the AC as far as I know.

Yup, the defroster was constantly in use. Kremi and A/C - it used to be one of the CEG's favorite topics; then Ross went to college, ya know, teenage drinking, premature sex, mind altering substances so for some time he hasn't been toting his "Let's Do Away With A/C" philosophy; now Kremi is either off-campus or planning to, and we are again back to A/C discussion.
