A late 70's vette will only set ya back about $6000 for a decent one. Drop a $3000 motor in there and yer rollin' in the 140-150mph range for under $10K.
An Impala SS or an SVT would be nice, but too expensive.
I'd think if not a vette, then a camaro. Maybe another 95 Contour SE if I could find one. Or possibly a truck, jeep, or 4x4. Or just completely leave the arena and buy a motorcycle (but I'm already doing that next year, so....)
