Another hard right hand turn (I think) took my engine.

What do I do guys? 3L? Sell the shell? Buy a new car (although my bank account really sez this isn't a wise option)?

Well that sucks.

I'd say do a 3l given the bang for the buck, but that's a decision you have to make for yourself.

Lou sorry to hear about the car. I for one am not that big a fan of the 3L swap I say if you keep the car just rebuild it stronger or get another SVT engine I saw some listed on ebay.

Dang Lou...

Ultimately, it's your car. I guess the question is what do you really want from it now? I know you've been thinking about the Mustang, but I'm not sure if your kids want to be shoehorned in the back seat or trunk

If time and funds permit, why not get a new car and keep the Contour as a project vehicle?

Holy Sh!t that sucks. I am hurting for you Lou. Does anyone know a good shop to install an accusump? I think I might get one sooner than I had planned...

Wow Lou don't know what to say. If you can get a fairly cheap 2.5 go for it and then worry about the future at a later date..

Mine started knocking a couple of months back, but has yet to granade.
Looking at your sig should answer your question. You've done enough mods that most key pieces have been replaced.
Do yourself a favour and go grab a 3L. Have the cams installed on the 3L heads, get em machined to match the injector boss of your svt lim. Reuse all the other stuff, and you'll have a screamer.

No brainer imo.

Good luck with whatever path you choose to take.

Sorry to hear this Lou, maybe Evan can help you out.
Not sure what he has left after his swap, but maybe he knows where to get another engine.

I say, extend the front, drop in an LS1 and make it rear wheel drive.....

Thanks guys for the comments. I've been driving a rental ZX5 auto and, no offence Richard, but it's got no passion!!

I like my cars to make me feel good and this just ain't doing it for me.

A bit of background info: A couple of months ago I was driving into work on the 401 and the car just dies. I put the clutch in, restarted it and kept going. From that point though the car started ticking all the way into Scarboro. I dropped it off at the dealer and they quoted me $1,300 to take the cam covers off and replace whatever lifter was making the sound and they guessed, sticking. I said no and put some AC Delco Engine Oil Supplement in on the advice of Brad Hall and that quieted it right down and I never heard it since - next time I did hear something it was much louder and I had a feeling the worse happened and sure enough ...

Here are a few cars I test drove after hearing the ticking the first time (all mtx):

BMW 325i - what an awesome handling car - I really understood the 1st-rate reviews the 3 series always gets - no other car I've driven made me feel as "one" with it - they say German horses are stronger and I believe it - about the same as the SVT or a bit less

Mazda 6 V6 - disappointed - the clutch was almost like an on/off switch and the power felt worse than my SVT

Acura TSX - nice but again lacking in the power dept.

Legacy GT - wicked turbo rush in the mid-range that literally makes you feel a push to the seatback - with an exhaust and a chip I can really love this car even more

Mustang GT - nice V8 rumble, clutch was perfect - expected more from 300hp - more linear power delivery than the Legacy GT turbo

I'm sooo confused on what to do

3L would really be the best way to go IMHO since you like performance and reliability.

Really sorry to hear it went on you though .
