What should be the insurance claim (in your opinion) of a 1998 Mystiqu, fully loaded 5 speed V6 in very good condition ?
I had extras such as SVT LIM/UIM, Trubendz Exhaust, wires and brakes too, as well as paint job. No rust, and all suspension components replaced ... BAT kit too.
Ideas welcome as my claims adjustor is around soon.
Cheers lads and ladettes,
Christian

Hard to say. Unless you told the company about your mods, they likely won't take them into consideration.
And watch mentioning the suspension bits....not to worry you too much, but they have been known to deny coverage on that basis.
If you can buy it back, you might be able to sell your mods for gain.

If you can get in to swap on your old UIM before they do the adjustment I'm sure you could sell it locally. The insurance company will likely give you nothing for it.

There's no chance of swapping anything over, with the exception of rear wheels ... the rest of the car no longer exists, she was totalled.

Should have added ... 166,000km, and paid $ 8,000 for her just over 2 years ago. It's impossible trying to compare as there simply aren't any like models around. Well they are, but everyone is driving them The one's on the forecourts are totally beaten pieces of junk. Autotrader has 4 CVST's though ... $7k, $8k, $10k, and $14k, but that only helps me plan to spend, not what I should get.

You could take a look at the Chrysler web site (www.daimlerchrysler.ca). They have a section that gives you Black Book trade-in value. It should at least give you a general idea of the value.
Hope it helps,

dont tell insurance about mods, they dont like that stuff. As for value of after market goodies, insurance dont care about it, unless its written into your policy. The only thing after market covered under my policy is $1,500 worth of audio equipment.

I seem to have different. The insurance company are only interested in the value. If I have mods & upgrades, then I can count the cost of the invoices to be pro-rated for a value. The vehicle appraiser (seperate to insurance company) is going to get together with me sometime this week to go through my invoices and arrive at a pro-rated add-on value. Seeing as everything is bolt on, then I should be okay. If I had done 'custom' work, then yes I may need to show it in the policy, but the likes of SVT UIM/LIM, Suspension, Exhaust, Filters and so forth are bolt-ons and not custom work. Bottom line, the insurance company are extremely interested in the cost of my mods to add to my pay-out (never thought I'd say that!).
At the moment, I'm due a $6,600 pay-out, plus GST/PST. Hopefully I can raise that up closer to the $8,000-$8,000 mark ... with a GREAT deal of luck. I'm relatively happy though as we got the car for around $7,500 three years ago, and I've added some 70k to the clock since then.

What company is this? I know a lot of people that would switch in an instant if they are forgiving of mods.

Lanark Mutual.
They are basically paying me what the appraiser says to pay, no questions. Might possibly have something to do with the extent of the damage though, as there is not a great deal of car left to inspect. I'm having no problems with it though, I'll post more once I have the cheque in my hand for extra info.
