not necessarily. the dealership would have to establish is that the purchase is a necessity of life. which isnt tooo difficult to do with a car. all they would have to establish is that he needed it for transportation, to get to work, to do this, to do that, blah blah blah. much more difficult to do with a $10k plasma tv. btw, this is the same in all 50 states. cases in which minors have purchased vehicles have gone both ways.
btw, even if he crashed it, and he could prove it wasnt a necessity of life, he could get his money back
so always beware of the age of someone you are selling something expensive too. even if just a set of rims....
