If you have a DSLR, then yes, because of the continuous modes, but for a point and shoot, to a certain point. I have both a Coolpix 8700 and a new D70s DSLR. I've been told that the point and shoots cannot take advantage of the ultra fast cars like the Sandisk Extreme/Ultra and the Lexar 80x with the WA technology because the write speeds are not there. My 8700 with a Lexar 80x is no faster than my PQI 40x card.
If you want a faster download, then, yes, the higher speed card will help with that aspect.

Well I was about to purchase a Hitachi 2GB MicroDrive for $119 until I read about the battery drain issues and also altitude issues (what you cannot fly with a microdrive)
SO I went with the bang for the buck model out there the KINGSTON 2GB CF CARD|CF/2GB-S for $142.55 - 25 rebate which should be less than the midro drive with shipping
So I will have about 800 5m pictures to take for big birthday party coming up this month.

well I have finally installed the 2giga byte card into my cool pic 5400 and the least number of pictures I can take is 831 at the 5.1mpeg picture size at the best picture quality HI or fine and I can take over 9999 pictures at the tv picture size at the best picture quality HI or fine and I say over because the image counter only contains four digits.
I bet I will have battery issues before I run out of pictures to snap at this weekend's party for I have only two batteries.
