I have a party coming up in june and am looking for some memory for my nikon coolpix 5400 camera and need help deciding between which chip to buy

well, do ya really need more than 1GB of storage??? Hell, even if you got 2 of the first one it's be cheaper...heh, not a bad idea.

What are the speed ratings on the two cards... this can be significant with large photos.
I use the high speed (Ultra II) San-Disk card, and am very happy with it.

Get the 1GB. Much cheaper. My digital camera on the 1024x768 resolution setting, with a 16MB card, can hold 78 pics. More than enough for me, and I'm sure 1GB is more than enough for you.

I agree with what James said about speeds. When I had to use my "regular" Sandisk in my Rebel XT it was MUCH slower than the 80x Lexar I bought.
1GB should be more than enough, unless you plan on being away from a computer for a long time (like a few weeks backpacking or something like that) even then I would just get 2x1GB cards. I have an 8MP DSLR and even on the highest JPEG setting I have about 255 shots on a blank card.
That kingston card you are looking at isn't bad, but I would look for something faster like the Sandisk ultraII there for 80 something.
